A Different Way to Play!
What’s poppin’ Po Town readers, it’s ya boy Zach, and I’m back with another article! I usually do my best to write about the top-performing decks in the format, but this article is a bit different. As I continuously test Fusion Strike decks, there have been a handful of decks that have caught my eye! Some of those decks feature powerful Pokemon, like Rayquaza VMAX (Evolving Skies), some feature underrated Pokemon, like Gengar VMAX (Fusion Strike), and some feature disruptive strategies, like Yveltal (Celebrations). The decks that I’m going to feature in this article are all Single Prize Card Attacking Decks, and they’re all incredibly fun to play! Some of these decks, like Obstagoon (Fusion Strike), are able to compete with the best decks in the format and other decks, like Boltund (Battle Styles), have truly unique strategies. Most of these decks are very budget-friendly and have a lot of unique cards inside of them! If you’re looking for any of the cards for these decks, consider picking up PTCGO codes right here at the PoTown store! There is a large selection of many PTCGO codes and they’re emailed right away! I don’t want to wait any longer, let’s jump into the first deck I’m featuring! Let’s get it!
Single Strike Morpeko
Morpeko (Fusion Strike) instantly gives off Spiritomb (Unbroken Bonds) vibes because of the self-inflicted damage to do more damage! You see, Explosive Discontent does 30x the amount of damage on Morpeko, and that can hit decently hard! The big issue is Morpeko only having a measly 50 HP, but this list offers some unique ways to get around that and increase your damage output in the process. Houndoom (Battle Styles) adds damage to Morpeko and accelerates Single Strike Energy (Battle Styles) which also increases your damage output. Abomasnow (Chilling Reign) is underutilized in other Single Strike decks, but Toughness Boost does help Morpeko pack on extra damage counters in the process. There are many helpful Trainer cards too, like Cape of Toughness (Darkness Ablaze), to increase your HP or even self-inflicting Stadiums, like Old Cemetery (Chilling Reign), to do more damage! If you’re able to increase Morpeko’s HP and self-inflict enough damage, you have a truly crazy deck that can hit for crazy numbers! Credit for this list goes to Burnthotpocket. Let’s check it out!

Rapid Strike Malamar
Rapid Strike Malamar (Chilling Reign) is a deck that many have heard of, but it has taken a bit of a backseat role since the rotation to our new Standard format. I wouldn’t be covering this deck if it wasn’t for manupango playing it to a Top 16 finish out of over 300 players at my recent Late Night #17 event. The goal of Malamar is to gather as many Rapid Strike Pokemon in your hand and shuffle them back into your deck with Rapid Strike Tentacles. You can increase the amount of cards in your hand by using Make Do on Cinccino (Sword and Shield), Rapid Strike Search on Octillery (Battle Styles), and even using Scoop Up Net (Rebel Clash) to get a couple more into your hand! Pyukumuku (Fusion Strike) is a cute addition to this deck because it gives you a re-roll of putting it away and trying your chances to draw into another Rapid Strike Card. If you’re able to manage your board statem and your hand size, Rapid Strike Malamar is an amazing choice! Credit for this list goes to manupango. Let’s check out this list.

Baby Boltund
In a Fusion Strike-era article, I wouldn’t usually expect to cover a deck that could have existed in our Evolving Skies format, but that’s how it's gonna be today! It seems like PokeDRUMMER97 came out of nowhere with this new budget deck and the strategy seems solid! The deck focuses on putting damage counters on Boltund with Old Cemetery so you can use Defiant Spark for a single Energy! That attack isn’t super powerful since it only does 130, but your opponent also takes damage counters from Old Cemetery and there is always Quick Shooting on Inteleon (Chilling Reign). Yamper (Battle Styles) has a unique Ability, Ball Search, that allows you to get back a Great Ball (Champions Path) and Poke Ball (Rebel Clash) from your Discard Pile which makes it easier to get this deck setup. I’m personally not a huge fan of the damage output of this deck, but it has been showing results here and there at Play Limitless online events! Credit for this list goes to PokeDrummer97. Let’s check it out!

Galarian Obstagoon
Last, but certainly not least, Galarian Obstagoon (Fusion Strike) is likely the most competitive out of all of these decks! I originally caught on to this deck after seeing Jake Gearhart do well with it in a few online events and I think the deck is incredibly effective in this metagame. A lot of that has to do with the fact that Mew VMAX is currently the most successful deck right now and Galarian Obstagoon does have a type advantage against that deck! The goal of this deck is to place damage counters on your opponent’s Pokémon with Galarian Zigzagoon (Sword and Shield) or Inteleon to hit harder with Merciless Strike! Sometimes there are gonna be obstacles in your path, like Fusion Strike Energy (Fusion Strike) stopping your Abilities, but we have ways around that, like using Fan of Waves (Battle Styles). Galarian Obstagoon seems like a great choice right now and I’m hyped to share my list! Credit for the list goes to Jake Gearhart! Let’s check it out!

Keep Testing!
I love testing unique decks as much as I love trying to find the best build of Mew VMAX - I guess I just love Pokemon! The Fusion Strike format has been incredibly refreshing to experiment with as a content creator because the set is MASSIVE! Like 300 cards MASSIVE! This means that many different members of the community are looking to focus on building different decks and showing off their results at events! I’m proud to have come up with the original build of Turbo Gengar VMAX and it's incredible to see the community finally accepting that deck as a true top contender in the format. I’m totally cool with bouncing back between Mew VMAX and Gengar VMAX as personal choices for competitive play, but I’m also working on a bunch of cool decks in the process too! As always, I’ll share these decks with our community and write about them here for Po Town readers! Once again, if you’re looking for any of the cards for these decks, consider picking up PTCGL codes right here at the PoTown store! There is a large selection of many PTCGO codes and they’re emailed right away! I look forward to sharing my findings in my next article and I’ll catch up with you next time! Happy testing!
