Scarlet & Violet
Immerse yourself in the Paldea Region with the release of Pokémon TCG’s Scarlet and Violet Base set. Based on the hit Nintendo Switch games, Scarlet and Violet, we can now explore this world filled with many new Pokémon! To kick off this new generation, all Scarlet and Violet base set and on cards feature a new silver border to bring the game’s aesthetic in line with Japan for the first time ever! On top of that, Pokémon ex return to the Pokémon TCG for the first time in years! Pokémon ex are powerful Pokémon that Evolve from their natural Evolution line instead of having specially printed cards. That means Ralts [Scarlet and Violet] Evolves into Kirlia [Scarlet and Violet] and then Kirlia Evolves into Gardevoir ex [Scarlet and Violet].
This is much different than Pokémon VSTAR / VMAX cards from Sword and Shield that would have Arceus V [Brilliant Stars] Evolve into an Arceus VSTAR [Brilliant Stars]. It might not sound like much of a change at first, but this places a larger emphasis on Evolution Pokémon, which is an in-game mechanic that hasn’t been as important in recent years. One of the more exciting cards from the set is Koraidon ex [Scarlet and Violet]! Similar to Zacian V [Sword and Shield], Koraidon ex has an Ability that allows it to accelerate Energy and ends your turn. Its Wild Impact attack packs a large punch at 220 damage that will have you OHKOing many Pokémon that step in your path! Magnezone ex [Scarlet and Violet] stands sturdy with a massive 330 HP and it can do 50x damage for each Energy attached to all of your opponent’s Pokémon in play for a single Lightning Energy with its Energy Crush attack.
On top of all of these powerful cards that will surely shake up our Standard format, there are many beautiful cards to collect in Scarlet and Violet. Returning are reprints of Gold Nest Ball [Scarlet and Violet], Gold Rare Candy [Scarlet and Violet], and Gold Basic Energy. There are new Full Art Special Illustration Supporter Cards, like Miriam [Scarlet and Violet], and Special Illustration Pokémon cards, like Great Tusk ex [Scarlet and Violet].
