Urshifu is in Full Force
What’s poppin’ Po Town readers? I hope everyone here has been enjoying our newest set, Chilling Reign, and testing all of the awesome cards available! One of the cards that have seen a lot of success in this metagame isn’t from this set at all... Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX (Battle Styles) has won the Players 3, Players Cup 4 and has seen success at many online events. This article will focus on a few ways to play this Pokemon Online deck, their strategies, and some of my personal lists! I hope these lists serve you well and give you a reason to pick up some PTCGO codes from this wonderful site! That being said, let’s get into our first list!
Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX
This is really the variant of the deck that started it all! A lot of players flocked to this early on in the Battle Styles metagame and it certainly helped that Azul Garcia Griego (@Azul_GG) popularized this Pokemon online deck by winning the Players Cup 3. The goal of this deck is to use Jirachi (Team Up) to grab all of the necessary Trainer cards to get setup and eventually plan your damage with Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX. You can always get off the damage efficient Gale Thrust attack for a single Fighting Energy or try and take down multiple Pokemon at once with G-Max Rapid Flow. The deck also utilizes Scoop Up Net (Rebel Clash) and cards that can be used over and over again. Usually, this means you can use Jirachi’s Stellar Wish a few times in a turn, but you can also do other cool things. Galarian Zigzagoon (Sword and Shield) can use its Headbutt Tantrum Ability with Scoop Up Net to hit for the necessary amounts of damage. Mewtwo (Unbroken Bonds) can help place an important Supporter card on top of your deck and you can combo it with Jirachi to grab it instantly. Lots of great plays can be found and it makes this deck skillful to play. This version of the deck has seen a lot less play since the release of Chilling Reign, likely due to two new versions of the deck being viable, but it’s still a great deck. Let’s check it out!

Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX Inteleon
This is one of the first Pokemon Online decks that players tried out when Chilling Reign was released and Alex Schemanske (@aschemanske) recently won the Players Cup 4 with this archetype. The reason why this list is cool is because you play a Drizzile (Sword and Shield) “Shady Dealings” engine that gets around Path to the Peak (Chilling Reign). Path to the Peak is played in a few popular decks, like Ice Rider Calyrex VMAX (Chilling Reign), and you can use non-Rule Box Abilities to get around it. On top of that, there is the Inteleon (Chilling Reign) that came out in this set so the list gained access to Quick Shooting which solves a lot of the problems with Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX. Whereas the above list needs to use Galarian Zigzagoon and Scoop Up Net to hit the perfect numbers, you can always use Quick Shooting to hit the right numbers. On top of that, this set also saw the release of Passimian (Chilling Reign), which can use its Ability to snipe the Bench for even more damage when you use G-Max Rapid Flow. To add even more damage, you can use Drizzile’s Shady Dealings to snag a Telescopic Sight (Vivid Voltage), to snipe for even more when you use G-Max Rapid Flow. Using both Passimian and Telescopic Sight means you can OHKO Crobat V (Darkness Ablaze), Dedenne-GX (Unbroken Bonds), and more with Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX. With this deck coming off a fresh win at the Players Cup 4, you’ll want to pick up these cards quickly before everyone else does! Let’s check out this list!

Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX Galarian Moltres V
I’ve saved the most interesting list for last… Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX featuring Galarian Moltres V (Chilling Reign). This unlikely duo seemingly works well together because Direflame Wings can accelerate back Darkness-type Energy from the Discard Pile and you can use Energy Switch (Sword and Shield) to move that Energy to Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX and use G-Max Rapid Flow out of nowhere. Additionally, the Galarian Moltres V is extremely effective against Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX (Chilling Reign). This makes it a solid pairing because Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAXis weak to Psychic-type Pokemon and most Psychic-type Pokemon nowadays are weak to Darkness-type Pokemon. Beyond that, this version takes the same shell from the first Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX deck we look at, the one with Jirachi, and it should function similarly to that list too. Let’s peep out this list!
