Deck Analysis
So first of all, you see that we are running a thick Beedrill line. For those of you that don't know, Beedrill has the Persist Sting attack, which allows you to OHKO anything that has a Special Energy attached, which is super busted in today's meta. Think about Fusion Energy, Single Strike Energy, Rapid Strike Energy, Speed Lightning Energy, Capture Energy, Horror Psychic Energy, and more!
Also, we can get Beedrill out in one single turn with the help of Single Strike Mustard. We can only play that supporter if it's the only card in our hand. That's why we are running two copies of Galarian Meowth to make that possible. Why two, you say? Well, you never want one prized, to be honest. We'll be explaining the matchup spread and strategies against other decks very soon, and you'll see how broken Beedrill can be.
On top of that, the deck is also running Oranguru with Primate Wisdom. This allows you to swap a card from your hand with the top card of your deck, which can make yourself Marnie proof (by putting a supporter on top for the next turn). Or you can dig a bit deeper in the deck in combination with the Rotom Phone or remove unplayable cards from the hand to make Single Strike Mustard work. But more practical than that, you can put a Beedrill in your hand back on top of the deck! Which makes getting out Beedrill super easy, combined with Aurora Energy, which also empties the hand!
In addition, this list also comes with 4 Galarian Birds. 2 Galarian Moltres V and 2 Galarian Zapdos V. They both have their strength, but Galarian Moltres V is the star here. This allows you to win against the most popular deck: Mew VMAX. Because you also run the Raihan supporter, you can get Galarian Moltres V off in one turn.
On top of that, you also win against Dragapult VMAX and Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX. With Vitality Band, the Galarian Moltres V can also hit 200 damage. This helps against Leafeon V and Jolteon V if you can get it off.
Another cool thing that Galarian Moltres V provides is the Direflame Wings ability. This can get Darkness Energies into play which you can Energy Switch to Galarian Zapdos V, which we might need to attack with it. Let me explain:
Galarian Zapdos V is a fantastic card that gives us fighting-type coverage. This means that we can win against Jolteon VMAX, Gengar VMAX, and Eternatus VMAX. Its ability Fighting Instinct makes the attack cost of Thunderous Kick one colorless energy less for every Pokemon V the opponent has in play. So if the opponent has 3 Pokemon V in play, it only requires one fighting energy to attack! As a bonus, you can also knock Fusion Energiesoff Mew VMAX with this attack which can help you get out of a tight spot.
Clever players will only slap down 1 Pokemon V at a time to outplay Galarian Zapdos V. And that's where Galarian Moltres V Direflame Wings + Energy Switch combo can come into play. We slap down Galarian Zapdos V on turn one, give it energy, and get energy on Galarian Moltres V with Direflame Wings. The next turn, we manually attach again to Galarian Zapdos V and Energy Switch a Darkness Energy from Galarian Moltres V to Galarian Zapdos V. This combo will give you three energies onto Galarian Zapdos V, which can win you the Jolteon VMAX and Gengar VMAX matchup even if they only have 1 Pokemon V in play.
For those of you that wonder why Hoopa is on the list. Well, that's for potential donking capabilities or easy prize cards if the opponent only has a weak HP Pokemon in the active. For example Sobble, Galarian Zigzagoon or Meloetta. You can OHKO them for one Darkness Energy if you come from the bench (which is easy to do with the help of the 3 Air Balloon cards).
Also, we discard a lot of energy because we run a high amount of Galarian Meowth. It has a lot of synergy with the Direflame Wings ability of Galarian Moltres V and pairs well with Training Court. Just because if we get the correct basic energy in the discard pile. We have easy access to it. This is amazing with Galarian Zapdos V and Beedrill because they typically only need one energy to attack!
Matchups explained
Favorable
Mew VMAX
Gengar VMAX
Single Strike Urshifu VMAX/Umbreon VMAX
Even
Jolteon VMAX
Unfavorable
Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX
Suicune V Variants
Leafeon VMAX
Rapid Strike Inteleon VMAX
Mew VMAX
This matchup is kind of favorable because we run a consistent Beedrill line. In combination with Galarian Moltres V and PokéGear + Raihan. The Beedrills can OHKO Mew VMAX or Meloetta if they have Fusion Energy. Also, Hoopa can be useful against this matchup in the early game, countering their Meloetta. Be sure to set up an early game Galarian Moltres V on the bench, so you can start attaching energy while you OHKO the Meloetta with the Hoopa. If they ever OHKO your Galarian Moltres V, you sting them with a Beedrill.
Jolteon VMAX
This matchup depends on whether the opponent slaps down 2 Jolteon Vs. at once. If they don't do that, it's good because that means you only have one Jolteon VMAX threat. As mentioned before, you can use the Galarian Moltres V Direflame Wings combo with Energy Switch to still attack with Thunderous Kick to OHKO Jolteon VMAX. Also, if they ever go for Speed Lighting Energy, they are done with a Beedrill sting!
Gengar VMAX
This is an auto-win because Gengar VMAX decks typically only play special energies (Hiding Dark Energy and Single Strike Energy). Use Beedrill here while you set up a Galarian Zapdos V on the bench, and you should win this in no time.
Single Strike Urshifu VMAX/Umbreon VMAX
This is basically the same as Gengar VMAX, but you can also use Hoopa to KO a Houndour early game. Beedrill is just busted against most Single Strike decks.
Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX
This matchup is rather difficult as they can easily outplay you by discarding their own Special Energies with G-Max Rapid Flow every time. So Beedrill OHKO plays will be only possible if they attach a Rapid Strike Energy on turn 1 or if the opponent misplays. So you probably want to be dodging this matchup.
Suicune V Variants
Another difficult matchup. They are just way faster because of Melony. You can KO a Sobble with Hoopa but KO'ing a Suicune V will require you to 2-Shot while they can Quick Shoot and slap huge damage. If they play cleverly they won't ever attach a Capture Energy so that means Beedrill is never live and we won't win that matchup.
Eternatus VMAX
This is a walk in the park, really. We have 2 Galarian Zapdos V which just slaughters Eternatus VMAX and if the Eternatus VMAX deck plays Hiding Dark Energy, they can forget about it. Because Beedrill also stings them to death!
Leafeon VMAX
This is also a matchup you don't wanna see. We have nothing that can upswing this matchup. From turn 2 they can OHKO all of our 2 Prize Pokemon with the help of Quick Shooting.
Dragapult VMAX
Easy matchup because of our Galarian Moltres V. We also can counteract the Path to the Peak with our high amount of Training Court and we even have Raihan. Should be easy. If they ever play down Horror Psychic Energy, you know what to do. Beedrill time!
Rapid Strike Inteleon VMAX
Unwinnable matchup because they always return the Special Energy back to their hand, and they have Cheryl. You never want to see this matchup. Luckily it's not that popular.
Conclusion
And that's it for another blog post on the PoTown Store website. As you see now, this amazing rogue deck has the potential to win against almost all the best pokemon online decks in the format. Don't sleep on it as it hits for weakness and slaps every deck with Special Energies!
