Alola Trainers! Every hero has a comeback story! Mega Evolution: Ascended Heroes is here and brings back some fan-favorite Mega Evolution Pokémon such as Mega Audino and Mega Charizard Y! But that’s not all, this special Pokémon TCG set also introduces the new Mega Pokémon from Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Enter Mega Dragonite, Mega Eelektross, Mega Emboar, Mega Meganium and Mega Feraligatr! With new Pokémon, new cooler versions of Meta cards and new powerful trainers, Ascended Heroes is shaping up to be one of the most impactful sets of the year! Let’s take a look at some of the new cards.
Starting out with what is probably going to be a crucial Staple going forward, Poké Pad. This item card is going to be an invaluable tool for Stage 2 and Engine-Heavy decks, giving them a massive boost in consistency. Even with cards like Buddy-Buddy Puffin, Nest Ball and Ultra Ball in the format. The N’s Zoroark deck finally gets a much needed power-up thanks to N’s Zekrom, now allowing Zoroark to do 250 damage and more importantly, get over Wall decks with Shred. Now, the main feature of the set, Mega Dragonite ex! It offers a beefy, dragon-type powerhouse that pairs perfectly with the Dynamotor engine for steady, turn-to-turn KO’s. Speaking of Dynamotor, Mega Eelektross ex is a fun new attacker that can offer a solid damage output and it fits right into any of the Eelektrik/Miraidon variants! Last but not least, the new Legends: Z-A Mega starters make their tcg debut, and they all synergize perfectly with their baby variants. The big highlight is Mega Meganium ex, which thanks to baby Meganium’s ability, can deal a massive amount of damage while leaving a beefy 360 HP tank in the active. Like true heroes, the new cards from the set, rise to the challenge and will hopefully bring a much needed shake-up to this long and stale format we had for months.
