Mew Strikes Again!
What’s happening Po Town readers? Have you been playing in our latest Silver Tempest format? Well, if you got the chance to view the results of the 2022 Latin American International Championships in Sao Paulo, Brazil, you would’ve seen that it was filled with Lugia VSTAR / Archeops [Silver Tempest]. Tord Reklev was able to win his fourth International Championship, and we saw what was a metagame filled with many viable decks turn into a Top Cut with only three unique decks. One of the decks that were just outside of the top eight was Mew VMAX [Fusion Strike], and it featured Path to the Peak [Chilling Reign] - a card that is used to often counter it. It was based upon the Double Turbo Energy [Brilliant Stars] build that we saw come out around the 2022 World Championships and used Lost Vacuum [Lost Origin] to get rid of their Path to the Peak. In this article, I will share the list for Mew VMAX, the strategy for the core deck, and a few other useful tidbits of information! If you are looking for any PTCGL codes to complete a Mew VMAX deck on Pokemon TCG decks Live, be sure to pick up Pokemon TCG Live codes from the Potown store. They have instant email delivery and a large selection of codes available to choose from. That being said, let’s jump into it!
The Strategy
The strategy of a Mew VMAX deck is very simple! You are using Mew VMAX to copy various attacks from your Fusion Strike Pokemon in play with Cross Fusion Strike. Since the Fusion Strike Energy build of the deck is less popular nowadays, you are likely only copying Genesect V [Fusion Strike] to use Techno Blast for 190 (-20 from Double Turbo Energy). That number is relevant to OHKO in most Pokemon V, but you can always use Power Tablet [Fusion Strike] and/or Choice Belt [Brilliant Stars] to get an OHKO on anything you like. You use Genesect V to draw cards with its Fusion Strike System Ability, and quite often, you’ll want to have two Mew V, three Genesect V, and an Oricorio [Fusion Strike] in play to maximize your draw! Regardless of whatever version you end up with below, you’ll be Retreating in between Mew VMAX or playing Cross Switcher to reset your use of Techno Blast. In the event where you are playing the version with Path to the Peak, your side strategy is to play Path to the Peak and Marnie [Sword and Shield] to disrupt your opponent's hand. Since your deck is so reliant on using Abilities, make sure you have a Lost City or Lost Vacuum [Lost Origin] to activate Abilities again!
Traditional Mew VMAX / Double Turbo Energy
While this take on the deck is from our Sword and Shield to Pokemon GO format, it is still very much a similar deck to what a modern Silver Tempest version looks like! This is the deck that landed Isaac Milaski in the finals of Baltimore Regionals earlier this season. Let’s check out his list!

Mew VMAX / Path to the Peak
Here we have Ryan Antonucci’s list that placed him in the top 16 players at LAIC 2022! With Path to the Peak being used to slow down Lugia VSTAR, this deck is more viable than ever heading into future Silver Tempest legal events! I might want to cut Marnie for Judge [Silver Tempest] to get around Oranguru [Sword and Shield], but I still need to test it more! Let’s check out his list!

Happy Testing
With Mew VMAX looking like a huge force at upcoming major events in our Silver Tempest metagame, I’m sure it will start seeing more and more play. And even if you try to counter the new Path to the Peak version of Mew VMAX with Drapion V [Lost Origin], Path to the Peak can stop its Ability from working as a counter to the counter. As I continue to experiment with these new Silver Tempest decks, I will bring my favourite ideas to our PoTown community for everyone to enjoy! I appreciate all of the support and hope to be back with another article soon!
